Nomination and Selection Process
Those who are eligible for this award include women who play a large role in a successful business and they can be nominated by customers, management, or employees. Nominees must also work for a business located in the Chicago suburbs in the main areas where the Daily Herald Business Ledger has a presence including Cook County, Kane County, DuPage County, McHenry County, Lake County, and Will County.
The nominees are then selected for the award by a committee that consists of Daily Herald Business Ledger and Daily Herald Media Group staff members. The committee considers their personal knowledge of the nominees as well as the materials submitted when choosing award winners. All nominees will receive an email notifying them of whether or not they have been chosen.
When judging the nominees, the selection committee considers the following:
- A biography or resume of the nominee that outlines their business achievements and involvement in the community.
- The business and professional achievements of the nominee and the challenges they have faced and overcome.
- Previous awards, honors, and achievements that the nominees have earned.
- The nominee’s involvement in their community, including charitable or civic causes, and how they give back to their employees.
Recognition
All those who are chosen for the award are honored at a luncheon reception. Jasmine recently received her award at the reception on November 1, 2019. Honorees are announced and introduced at the podium and they are given one minute for a speech. The recipients of this award are also profiled in a special section of the Daily Herald Business Ledger.
